Pro Race Axles Are Thru Hardened
This removes much of the flexibility needed for street use
Impact or heavy side loads could cause the flange to break off the axle
Spools Turn Both Axles At The Same Rate
This will cause the vehicle to become unstable when attempting turns
Alloy Axles Are Induction Hardened
We heat treat deeper than
factory axles, but don’t thru harden
This increases torsional strength without significantly reducing flexibility
Spools Are Not Suitable For Street Use

Replacing The Carrier
It is very common for axle lengths to change
Changing The Brakes
May alter many of the axle dimensions
• Brake Offset (F) may change requiring a different bearing stop (B)
• The pilot hole for the rotor might be different than your brake register (A)
• The flange OD (D) may need to be reduced to fit inside their rotor
• Their kit might be designed specifically for either a ball or tapered axle bearing
• Some require an access hole in the flange to tighten the backing plate

This Is The Brake Register Machined On The Axle Flange
OEM and most aftermarket street brakes use this to center the drum or rotor
This is usually unimportant with Drag Race disc brakes
They tend to have a very large hole and center on the wheel studs
From The Outer Face Of The Axle Flange To The Machined Bearing Stop
This measurement is never the same as the brake offset “F”
For an accurate measurement, the bearing & seal should be removed

Changing The Brakes May Alter The Final Wheel To Wheel Dimension
• The brake offset may require the axles to be further in or out than before
• The rotor hat might be thicker pushing your wheel out further

• The flange O.D. may need to be reduced to fit inside their rotor
