Hy-Tuf is in a class of ultra-strength alloys configured with a low concentration of carbon and high degrees of manganese, nickel, and molybdenum steel. We Cut Before Heat Treatment, Not After.
Strange Hy-Tuf Drag Race axles are thru hardened. This specific type of heat treatment hardens the axle all the way to it’s core providing exceptional torsional strength.

We can not stress enough the importance that Strange Engineering does all of its machine work on the splines prior to heat treatment. This allows for consistent heat treat depth, leading to a stronger axle. Be aware that some companies induction heat-treat the material before the splines are machined into the axle, which causes it to be weaker despite the shiny look.

Strange axles are typically manufactured with a larger than stock axle bearing diameter area. This provides more strength in an area that may see additional stress due to tire shake.
