Ford 8.8 Spool
This Strange Ford 8.8 Spool in steel, is stronger and lighter than a differential. With no gears or clutches, the spool only allows both axles to turn at the same speed. Spools have the capacity to handle a greater torque load. That means larger splined axles that are much more durable.
A spool is one solid part that replaces all components of a normal Ford 8.8 rear end differential. It will always turn both axles at the same speed with an equal amount of force. Due to its simplistic design, it is much stronger and lighter than any differential.
It also allows the use of larger axles that can handle greater amounts of torque. This makes it the best choice for Drag Racing, Drifting, and other forms of motorsports that require uninterrupted transfer of power to both wheels. Spools should not be considered for a street application.
